Ann Arbor, MI -- Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced the creation of the Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. You can read more about the office here.
The National Wildlife Federation Great Lakes Regional Center, based in Ann Arbor, issued this statement in support:
“This is great news for Michigan’s vibrant outdoor recreation economy,” said Mike Shriberg, Great Lakes regional executive director of the National Wildlife Federation. “We look forward to working with Director Phillips to ensure Michigan has the clean water, access for all communities, and thriving fish and wildlife populations which support Michigan’s $26.6 billion outdoor recreation and tourism industry and a healthy population of Michiganders.”
