WASHINGTON, D.C. — Strong, anti-discrimination protections are essential to ensuring all Americans enjoy basic civil rights as well as the outdoors and our shared wildlife heritage. The National Wildlife Federation urged Congress to pass the Equality Act, which strengthens anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ individuals, and bolsters the nation’s commitment to civil rights laws.
“Our work in support of wildlife, climate action, and the environment is fundamentally incomplete if any Americans or their families are unable to live their lives free from discrimination and threats of violence,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “The Equality Act is a critical component of the types of anti-discrimination protections we need passed into law. Congress should pass this bill and continue to strengthen our democracy and civil rights laws.”
