WASHINGTON, D.C. — Adam Kolton, a leader at the National Wildlife Federation for 15 years, left an indelible mark on wildlife conservation and the effort to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Kolton, who currently serves as executive director of the Alaska Wilderness League, passed away today.
“Adam inspired tens of millions of Americans with his passion for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in authentic partnership with the Gwich’in people. We were proud to call him a member of the National Wildlife Federation family and we join with his family and friends in mourning his loss,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “Adam left an indelible mark on the conservation movement and epitomized the type of authentic, collaborative, and passionate approach that is the very best of conservation. We are devastated by his passing, but we will celebrate his life, achievements, and all of the memories he gifted us with.”
Kolton is survived by his wife, Laura, his two sons, Jacob and Samuel, his parents, Chet and Carol, and his sister, Lisa. Kolton worked at the National Wildlife Federation from 2002 to 2017, rising to Vice President of National Advocacy.
