WASHINGTON, D.C. — Michael Regan, the Biden Administration’s nominee to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, will bring critical experience leading on environmental justice and public health to the agency at a time when environmental and public health rollbacks have been catastrophic, particularly for frontline communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As our nation struggles with a historic pandemic, environmental injustices, and climate impacts, we need visionary environmental leaders like Michael Regan now more than ever. Secretary Regan’s deep understanding of complex environmental challenges, track record of forging durable solutions, and trailblazing work on environmental justice will provide EPA with the essential leadership needed to restore its focus on strengthening public health and environmental safeguards and center itself in the experiences of frontline communities,” said Collin O’Mara, CEO and president of the National Wildlife Federation. “In the midst of a public health and climate emergency, we have no time to lose. The Senate should confirm his nomination without delay.”
Last year, Regan participated in an environmental justice roundtable hosted by the National Wildlife Federation to discuss the intersection of conservation and racial equity issues.
