WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Marcia L. Fudge (D-Ohio), the Biden Administration’s nominee to lead the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will bring a strong vision for fighting for equity and environmental justice to the agency. The Congresswoman's nomination received bipartisan support in committee and she should be swiftly confirmed by the full Senate. 

“Environmental justice must be a part of policies at all levels of government, particularly at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where addressing issues such as lead poisoning, access to climate-resilient housing, and addressing water shutoffs along with managing the agency's disaster relief and flood mitigation efforts are key to addressing systemic racial inequity and disproportionate impact,” said Simone Lightfoot, national director for urban initiatives and environmental justice at the National Wildlife Federation. “Congresswoman Fudge understands the connection between clean water and air and safe and healthy housing for all Americans.
