WASHINGTON, D.C. — New legislation from Representative Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) would re-invigorate the U.S. tax code to accelerate the United States’ transition to cleaner sources of energy and address the global climate crisis.
“The GREEN Act would energize the U.S. response to the global climate crisis at a time when we need to act. This legislation from Rep. Mike Thompson would unleash tens of billions of dollars of investment and create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs speeding the transition to clean energy, supporting energy efficiency, and helping workers and vulnerable communities benefit from these new investments,” said Shannon Heyck-Williams, Director of Climate and Energy Policy at the National Wildlife Federation. “Long-term incentives for clean energy production, storage, and efficiency are badly needed to make up for four years of lost time in the effort to confront the climate crisis.”
