Pledge Summary

Durham is known as the Bull City and the City of Medicine. It’s a two-hour drive from the beach, a three-hour drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is North Carolina’s fourth largest city by population at about 285,000 residents. Mayor O'Neal is excited to support the Mayor's Monarch Pledge by issuing a proclamation during Pollinator Week in June. The City will also engage community garden groups and urge them to plant native and nectar-producing plants and host or support a native seed or plant sale, giveaway or swap.
