Pledge Summary

McKees Rocks is a great little borough in Western Pennsylvania. Located right next door to the city of Pittsburgh we are 10 to 15 minutes away from almost everywhere. A borough rich in history, McKees Rocks fell onto some hard times when the Steel industry collapsed. Today though we are committed to bringing this Borough into the modern age. With a dedication to modern best practices and embracing today's technologies, McKees Rocks is on the move to a much brighter future. That being said, we are also paying close attention to the garden around us as well. There is a growing group of dedicated volunteers who have been picking trash, planting flowers and ENGAGING with our residents in a different and inviting way. Keep an eye on McKees Rocks. We are doing things, growing and reaching for the promise that is the American Dream. We are going to get there.

Communications and Convening ▸

Engage with community garden groups and urge them to plant native milkweeds and nectar-producing plants.
Engage with city parks and recreation, public works, sustainability, and other relevant staff to identify opportunities to revise and maintain mowing programs and milkweed / native nectar plant planting programs.
Create a community-driven educational conservation strategy that focuses on and benefits local, underserved residents.
