David Willms serves as Associate Vice President for Public Lands where he works with a dynamic team of professionals to advance the conservation and restoration of public lands in the United States. Prior to joining NWF, David served as a Natural Resource Policy Advisor to Wyoming Governor, Matthew H. Mead. Before that, he worked as an attorney in both the private and public sector with a broad-based natural resources practice.
David holds a law degree, and bachelor's degrees in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology and Management as well as Environment and Natural Resources. He is a professional member of the Boone & Crockett Club, a 2022 Cambridge University Fellow in Environmental Leadership, and a member of the Rotary International Club. David is an avid hunter, angler, backpacker, and peak bagger on public lands throughout the country.
