The National Wildlife Federation's Wildlife-Forward Transmission Siting Toolkit is a practical guide for conservation and wildlife advocates engaging in transmission planning, siting, and permitting. It covers the full project development lifecycle, from regional planning through long-term stewardship, and includes four scored worksheets for evaluating a project’s planning process, routing and design, mitigation record, and construction compliance, plus landscape-by-landscape risk profiles and data sources.

By enabling timely and targeted engagement at every stage, the toolkit helps reduce ecological and community conflict and clears the path for responsible grid buildout. It is built to be modular, so users can pick up whichever section matches where a project stands.
