WASHINGTON, D.C. – Conservation groups from around the nation called on the U.S. Senate to swiftly confirm Laura Daniel Davis as the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management. In a letter, the groups noted her two decades of public policy, nonprofit, and government experience that make Davis an “outstanding choice” to tackle the complex challenges facing our nation’s public lands and waters.

Davis is “exceptionally qualified to help Secretary Haaland and President Biden implement an ambitious agenda to build resiliency in our forests, restore grasslands and coasts, increase partnerships with private landowners, improve relationships with Tribal communities, recover imperiled wildlife, diversify the nation’s energy portfolio, expand recreation opportunities, and break down barriers so all Americans can fully benefit from our nation’s public lands, waters, and coasts,” the coalition said in its letter.

The letter was sent ahead of Tuesday’s Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources hearing on her nomination. The following organizations signed the letter:
