WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden Administration’s newly released offshore oil and gas leasing plan proposes options ranging from no new leasing to limited drilling in areas with existing infrastructure. They will accept comments on the options proposed for 2023 to 2028.

“The climate crisis is real and demands clean energy solutions that lower energy costs for all Americans, while responsibly reducing our dependence upon fossil fuels, both on- and offshore,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. “The Biden Administration’s five-year plan is a step in that direction and seeks to avoid impacts in new areas. We urge Congress and the Biden Administration to accelerate investments in cleaner sources of energy, while ensuring that no one—including both workers in energy-producing communities and people living in frontline communities who bear disproportionate impacts from pollution—is left behind.”
