WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senate Agriculture Chair Debbie Stabenow’s newly released draft of the farm bill highlights the need to pass a full five-year bill as quickly as possible.
“Senator Stabenow has long been a leader on agricultural and conservation issues and we look forward to digging into the details of this draft,” said Aviva Glaser, senior director of agriculture policy for the National Wildlife Federation. “This bill takes the climate-smart investments from the Inflation Reduction Act and puts them into the baseline, resulting in a lasting increase in conservation funding. One thing is clear: We need a bipartisan bill now that includes this historic investment in climate-smart conservation. We hope Congress can put aside partisanship and get a commonsense bill done before the end of the year.”
