WASHINGTON, D.C. — The America the Beautiful Act, introduced by Senators Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Angus King (I-Maine), will reauthorize the Legacy Restoration Fund through 2033, providing continued support for wildlife, outdoor recreation, and local economies by helping to reduce maintenance backlogs on the nation’s public lands. The National Wildlife Federation applauded the U.S. Senate for approving the legislation and urged members of the House of Representatives to swiftly do the same to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy America's public lands.
"Addressing long-overdue repairs across the country’s public lands helps keep parks, refuges, and forests accessible and safe for the millions of people who enjoy them each year,” said David Willms, associate vice president of public lands at National Wildlife Federation. “Reauthorizing the Legacy Restoration Fund continues that critical work and creates an opportunity to strengthen investments in the National Wildlife Refuge System to further support wildlife, habitat, and outdoor recreation.”
