Agriculture Policy Specialist

As an Agriculture Policy Specialist, DeGennaro analyzes and develops policy for the organization and represents the National Wildlife Federation before Congress and the Administration. Since joining NWF in 2015, he has focused his work around the Renewable Fuels Standard, federally backed crop insurance, Farm Bill conservation funding, and their impacts to wildlife and its habitat.
DeGennaro draws on more than 10 years of experience working in Congress and with other conservation organizations. Working for Congressman Ron Kind, he helped spearhead a major campaign to reform federal agriculture policies, while also working extensively on wildlife, federal lands, and sportsmen’s issues. He followed his five years on Capitol Hill with analysis and government relations roles at Environmental Working Group and Defenders of Wildlife. He has served as an expert panelist or speaker on agriculture and the Farm Bill issues on numerous occasions, and has been published or quoted in dozens of print, online, and radio outlets.
DeGennaro earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from New York University and a master of science degree in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University.
